All Heart NZ

Waste Management is an Impact Partner of All Heart NZ, a social enterprise that helps organisations reduce waste, recover unwanted resources and develop sustainability practices, while supporting communities through living wage employment and upskilling opportunities. Through our partnership, Waste Management Sustainability can provide All Heart NZ’s services to our customers. 

The Purpose

All Heart NZ believes that improving the ways we both source and dispose of goods can positively impact our planet and the quality of life of the people who help produce, reuse and dispose of it.

Their Theory of Change is simple: Raise the sustainability standards and practices of the top 0.5% of businesses in Aotearoa New Zealand, which directly changes the behaviour of 60% of New Zealand’s workforce and indirectly influences their families and friends – growing the movement for a more sustainable society.

Waste Management partners with All Heart NZ so they can assist our customers with corporate waste while supporting our communities and the creation of a circular economy.

The Services

We work with All Heart NZ to offer the following:

Reduce: Providing corporates with leadership and support to integrate sustainability into their organisation, All Heart NZ’s Reduce services can deliver a bespoke solution to address any sustainability needs.

Examples include working with clients to design comprehensive sustainability strategies that reach all areas of their businesses, to hosting sustainability workshops.

Redirect: Redirecting unwanted corporate and construction items from landfills and giving them a ‘second’ or ‘third’ life – and using the profits for community good.

Examples include finding new homes for used desks, mobiles, computers and other types of office furniture, carpet tiles, curtains and even plumbing materials; and unsold/redundant items such as PPE and hand sanitiser.

Repurpose: Up-cycling and/or down-cycling items that can’t be reused or recycled in their current form and turning them into materials that can be recovered by community partners. This creates opportunities for training and meaningful employment for many vulnerable people in our communities.

Examples include mixed plastic items, MDF boards, textiles and construction materials.

The Result

All Heart NZ, on average, recovers 94% of the materials they collect from corporates, supports over 400 communities and has saved or raised more than NZ$10 million of funds for community needs.
