Service Guidelines

Bin placement and access

Ensure your bin is placed at the kerbside by 7 am on the scheduled collection day. Position it with the opening facing the street and the wheels towards your property. Avoid placing bins near obstructions like parked cars, trees, or street poles.

Bin delivery and removal

We aim to deliver your bin within 7 working days, depending on operational factors. Orders placed during weekends or public holidays will be processed on the next working day.

If you wish to cancel, we strive to remove the bin within 7 working days. Requests made during weekends or public holidays will be processed the following working day. 

Using and caring for your bin

To ensure your bin is used effectively and safely, please follow these important guidelines:

  • Only place accepted materials in the bin as per the specific guidelines
  • Ensure the bin lid closes fully, with no items protruding above the rim
  • Do not exceed the bin's weight limit (see "Weight Limits" below)
  • Avoid placing hazardous materials (e.g., asbestos, acids, paints), vaping devices, batteries, or hot embers/ashes in the bin

    What is accepted in general waste?

    What We Can Accept

    • Household waste that cannot be reused or recycled
    • Large household items

    What We Can’t Accept

    • Liquids, or any explosive, toxic, dangerous, hazardous, or noxious materials (e.g., asbestos, acids, solvents, paints, unwrapped broken glass, minerals, grease, cooking oil, and concrete)
    • Ash or hot embers
    • Batteries—please take these to your nearest battery collection facility
    • Biological or animal remains
    • Lawn clippings or inorganic waste
    • Any items that could pose a risk of harm or injury to our operators

    Note: Always make sure waste is correctly sorted to avoid contamination.

    • Lawn clippings
    • Shrubs
    • Flowers
    • Tree prunings
    • Branches (up to 100mm in diameter)
    • Weeds
    • Old plants

    What We Can’t Accept

    • Bamboo
    • Flax
    • Cabbage tree leaves
    • Large tree stumps or logs (over 100mm in diameter)
    • Soil
    • Rocks
    • Household waste

    Note: Avoid placing anything that could contaminate your garden waste, such as food scraps or household items.

Contamination and weight limits

Contamination

If any prohibited or hazardous materials are found during collection, a contamination charge may apply. To avoid this, please follow the guidelines closely.

Weight limits

While filling your bin, please be mindful of its weight limit to ensure safe handling and efficient collection. Below are the maximum weight limits for each bin size:

  • 80L Bin: Max weight 30kg.
  • 140L Bin: Max weight 70kg.
  • 240L Bin: Max weight 80kg.

Scheduled collections

Your bin will be emptied on the scheduled date or within three working days, unless otherwise communicated.

If your collection day is a holiday, we'll pick up your bin on the holiday itself or the next day. Please put your bin out by 7 am on the holiday.

We aim to notify you of any changes at least 48 hours in advance.

Extra collections

Extra collections may be available in some areas for an additional charge. These collections will not affect your regular scheduled service but may be subject to availability, especially during public holidays.

Missing, stolen, damaged, or rogue bin

  • Replacement bin charges: No charge for a replacement bin.
  • Missing bin replacement: If your bin is missing, contact us to arrange a delivery on the next available date.
  • Rogue bin removal: Found a random bin? Contact us with the bin size, lid colour, serial number, and whether it's full or empty, and we’ll arrange removal.
  • Damaged bin replacement: If your bin is damaged, please reach out to schedule a replacement on the next available date.
