Free Tyre Recycling with Tyrewise

WM New Zealand is proud to be part of the Tyrewise programme, New Zealand’s regulated product stewardship scheme for end‑of‑life tyres. Our Hamilton Transfer Station is now an official Tyrewise collection site, which means you can drop off your used tyres for free recycling (conditions apply).

By working with Tyrewise, we’re helping ensure tyres are managed responsibly, reducing waste and protecting the environment. Learn more about the Tyrewise programme here. Conditions for free tyre drop‑off:

  • No more than five tyres per day
  • No commercial loads accepted
  • Tyres must be clean

All prices include GST.

Please Note:

  • We now accept tyres at no cost, max 5 per person. We accept tyres from motorcycles, cars, and 4x4s. NO RIMS, please.
  • E-waste accepted for a small charge; see staff in the Olde Dump Shop.

WM New Zealand's new Resource Recovery Park (RRP) is designed to let you dispose of waste efficiently and in a pleasant environment. 

The facility includes the latest in automated weighbridge technology and undercover drop-off zones.

We invite you to leave recycling items free of charge in our purpose-built (and undercover) recycling facility. We are also accepting donations (excluding ALL whiteware such as fridges, dryers, and washing machines) to be re-loved and recycled at Hamilton’s newest “Olde Dump Shop”.

In the recycle lane, we take:

  • Glass bottles (self sort into colour streams) - NO plate glass
  • Paper
  • Plastics 1,2 & 5’s (streamed into classes & colours)
  • Cardboard
  • Aluminium cans
  • Steel cans
  • Batteries – single use, Lithium Ion, device batteries (separated)
  • Lead acid batteries
  • Note: we accept polystyrene as general waste NOT recycling

Items we DO NOT accept:

  • Fireworks or explosives
  • Oils or hazardous substances
  • Gas cylinders
  • Asbestos or dusty loads
  • Medical waste
  • Offal
  • Paint
