Important update: Residential recycling changes from 1 August

WM New Zealand will no longer provide residential kerbside recycling collections in the Far North after 31 July 2025, following the conclusion of our council contract. From 1 August, a new crate-based recycling service will be delivered by Northland Waste. There will be no more tags or bags, and recycling collections will be available by account only.

What you need to know: 

  • WM New Zealand tags and bags will still be collected until 31 August 2025.
  • Unused tags or bags:
    • Retail customers: Refunds available from participating retailers until 31 August.
    • On-account customers: Full refunds will be made.
  • Retailers must return unused stock to WM New Zealand by 30 September to receive reimbursement.
