Gisborne Transfer Station

Please note: We are making some changes at our 75 Innes Street transfer station to make it easier and safer for you to drop off your recycling. It’s going to take about two weeks, so in the meantime please drop off your recycling in the coned-off cages near the parking lot. Thanks for your understanding! In two weeks we’ll have a new concrete drop-off point ready to go!

Gisborne Refuse Transfer Station is a purpose built facility open to the public and commercial business for the disposal of general waste, green garden waste and recycling. This site is cashless - EFTPOS / Paywave ONLY

Also provided is a free recycling location to accept small quantities cardboard / paper / aluminum and steel cans / glass bottles and jars / plastic bottles and containers marked with the 1-5 inside the triangle. Commercial quantities are accepted over the weighbridge.

Site safety:

  • No parking on yellow lines
  • Obey staff instructions
  • Drive slow, give way
  • Children and pets to remain in vehicles
  • Covered footwear must be worn - no bare feets or jandals / sandals
  • We are paywave and EFTPOS only.

Notes 

  • General Waste: General household and commercial waste
  • Garden Waste: Lawn clippings, leaves, and tree trimmings, untreated only. No flax.
  • Paper/cardboard: Recycling must be separated. Clean cardboard and paper. Contaminated or mixed products will be treated as general waste. Recycling must be separated.
  • Plastic/tin/aluminium/co-mingled: Plastic grade 1 and 2 only, tin and aluminium. Contaminated or mixed products will be treated as general waste. No polystyrene or poly panel.
  • Glass: Recycling must be separated. Colour sorted glass bottles and jars. Contaminated or mixed products will be treated as general waste. No windows or laminated glass.
  • Hardfill/cleanfill: Concrete (no steel). Rock, rubble, Sand, clays, soil, dirt, ceramics/tiles, asphalt, fibreboard, window or sheet glass. No contaminated soils.
    • Putresibles (hazardous): Obnoxious waste (Dead animals, offal, faeces, rotten organic material. Must be fully wrapped, bagged and sealed).
    • Waste Oil - $3.00 per litre
    • Car tyres (off rim) - $5 each
    • Weighbridge charge (each visit) - $20
    • GDC refuse stickers - $4.32 or bag dropoff
