Independent environmental testing results are now available
We know parents, neighbours and our wider community want reliable, science-based information about the local environment. To support transparency, we commissioned independent testing of drinking water at Dairy Flat School, dust at a nearby home, and soil at multiple points around Redvale Landfill. All results are now available in full.
The independent tests show no evidence of health risks to the school, children, or nearby households.
Three taps were sampled from the Staff Room, Health Room and Hall Kitchen and analysed by Hill Laboratories, an IANZ-accredited independent laboratory.
The water is safe to drink, with no E. coli detected and all metals well below health limits. There were no indicators of leachate or other contamination.
Capital Environmental Services carried out airborne dust sampling under deliberately dry, windy conditions to assess worst-case exposure.
Dust levels at the neighbour’s property were low and within typical semi-rural background ranges. Even at the landfill boundary, levels remained well within health-protective limits.
Soil was sampled from four points around the boundary and analysed by Hill Laboratories.
All heavy metals were well below Ministry for the Environment residential land standards and BTEX compounds were not detected.
The combined testing confirms:
These findings align with our ongoing environmental monitoring and our commitment to being a good neighbour. A summary report is also available to download.
